Santo Domingo, RD.- The Dominican ambassador to Qatar, Federico Alberto Cuello Camilo, said that it is very encouraging to see the growing interest of Qatar’s businessmen in investing in the Dominican Republic, which would be the first flight that the country receives from one of the three aerial giants of the Persian Gulf, where Emirates, Etihad and the aforementioned Qatar have huge hubs that connect with dozens of Asian destinations.

The ambassador in Qatar said that the Dominican Republic is ready to have an open skies agreement with Qatar, which would allow the Qatar Airways airline to take Asian tourists to the region, making its first stop in Doha, following one of the airports and continuing to the rest of the region.

“These planes would be loaded with fresh products ready for sale in Qatar, just like those of British Airways to London,” the diplomat said.

Speaking after a lunch with Qatari investors, the ambassador highlighted the interest in evaluating investment projects in tourism, electrical distribution, port infrastructure and logistics.

“The businessmen were highly motivated to confirm the Qatari chapter of the Dominican Chamber of Commerce for the Middle East and North Africa, which is already being incorporated in Santo Domingo for its next launch,” said the Ambassador.
