KATHMADNU: With the prime objective of promoting Nepal as a lifetime destination among the “summer holiday” high-end Indian audience, a consumer focused promotion campaign has been launched by Nepal Tourism Board in partnership with Ola Cab.

The campaign promotes Nepal through a digital contest on its app and website where Ola users can register to win a fully sponsored trip to Nepal. In addition, the website and app promote Nepal showcasing “lifetime experiences” that Nepal offers to Indian visitors.

Deepak R Joshi, CEO NTB says “The campaign promotes Nepal through its Ola push message, inbox and blog. The campaign is also expected to draw attention from other potential India holiday goers, apart from the Ola Cab users participating in the contest.”

The promotion message has registered the redemption of over 51,000 in 10days and these messages being sent to millions of the users in different parts of India, increasing the visibility of Nepal as a destination among the Ola users of Indian cities.

The partnership with Ola Cab is a significant step toward reaching the Indian consumer section through digital media targeting school holidays during this summer.

With the growing India outbound and India market’s traditional role as a prime value and volume market for Nepal’s tourism industry, promotion in India has been seen as crucial for growth of tourists to Nepal to reach the 2 million mark for Visit Nepal 2020.

In 2018, total arrival of Indian tourists to Nepal was 200,438, 70.01 percent of the total tourist arrival to Nepal in 2018, and an increment of 25.1 percent as compared to the arrival numbers of Indian tourists to Nepal in 2017.

Digital marketing, being one of the most effective and widespread tools for tourism promotion, digital partnership with Ola Cabs is expected to lead to noteworthy visibility in India market.

Studies show that 9.9 percent of commuters in Indian cities book cabs online. Ola, a popular name among Indian commuters, is a vehicle booking app offering customer-friendly riding options including entertainment facilities.
