Ever dreamt you’d catch a fantastic acrobatic show with all the staggering contortions, stunts and daring flips out there in real life? Well, now’s your opportunity, because the phenomenal Cirque du Soleil will be performing in Malta for three consecutive years starting this year!

The acrobatic show will be tailor-made for the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta, which will allow the troupe to perform a show a day between the months of November and January. The company will have around 30 acrobats tumbling, flying and flipping through the theatre, ready to astonish you during your holidays in Malta!

What is Cirque du Soleil?

Cirque du Soleil was founded in Montreal in 1984 by two former street performers and has rapidly expanded into a world-class award-winning acrobatic company that has toured all over the world. The renowned show integrates circus styles from around the world, and each has their separate themes and storylines performed to live music. Cirque du Soleil holds residencies in some of Las Vegas’s best hotels, exotic cruise ships and is soon due to open another residency in Dubai.

While its shows and touring operations have become more elaborate, Cirque du Soleil has never strayed from its street performer roots. Unlike three-ring circuses, which feature animal acts along with human performers, Cirque du Soleil has always been entirely dedicated to the exceptional talents of the performers. In developing a show, the Cirque team draws diverse talent from across the globe and unites all the performers together into a cohesive whole.

Whether it’s a touring show like “Alegria” or “Varekai” or a resident show such as “O” or the Beatles’ “Love” in Las Vegas, all Cirque du Soleil shows are established around the same two core elements: a unique theme and a unique soundtrack. It isn’t known yet which show will be launched in Malta. However, we can expect these two essential elements to guide the development of each show’s acts, sets and original costumes.
